How this works

Formula

Weighted GPA = Σ(Weighted Points × Credits) ÷ Σ(Credits). Additive: Honors +0.5, AP/IB +1.0. Fixed AP scale: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, F=0.

Example

A in AP Calc (1 cr): additive → (4.0 + 1.0) × 1 = 5.0. Fixed → 5.0. Same answer here; fixed and additive diverge on A- / B+ grades.

Grading policies differ by university, department, and academic year. Use your institution's official calculator or transcript office for anything that counts (transfer credit, scholarships, honors).

FAQ

Do all schools use the same bonuses?

No. Use the toggle above the course list: additive (+0.5 / +1.0) is the most common, but many districts publish a fixed AP scale (A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, F=0) that collapses pluses and minuses. Some schools apply no bonus at all — pick the option that matches your transcript.

Does a failing grade still get the bonus?

This calculator only adds the bonus when the earned grade is above F (0.0), consistent with common school policies.
