High School GPA Calculator
Weighted (Honors / AP / IB with the bonus rule your school uses) and unweighted GPA side by side.
Weighted GPA policies are set by your district — pick the option that matches your transcript.
Grading policies differ by university, department, and academic year. Use your institution's official calculator or transcript office for anything that counts (transfer credit, scholarships, honors).
How this works
Unweighted converts each letter to a point (A = 4.0, B+ = 3.3, …) and averages by credit hours. Weighted layers a bonus for Honors and AP/IB courses. Districts pick one of two rules — additive (+0.5 / +1.0) or a fixed AP scale (A = 5, B = 4, …). Pick the mode that matches your transcript above.
Formula
unweighted GPA = Σ(base points × credits) ÷ Σ(credits) · weighted GPA layers your school's Honors / AP / IB bonus
Example
AP English A (4.0 + 1.0) × 1 + Honors Chem B+ (3.3 + 0.5) × 1 + Regular Algebra B (3.0) × 1 = 12.8 ÷ 3 = 4.27 weighted
