How a weighted gradebook works
Each syllabus category (homework, quizzes, tests, projects, final exam) carries a percentage weight. Multiply your current grade in each category by its weight, add them together, and divide by the total weight. Weights don't need to sum to 100 — the division normalizes.
Formula
class % = Σ(category grade × category weight) ÷ Σ(weights)
Example
Homework 90 × 20 + Tests 82 × 40 + Final 88 × 40 = 8,600; ÷ 100 = 86.00%
