How to Calculate CGPA in UAF (Step-by-Step)

Walkthrough of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad CGPA formula on the 4.0 scale with a full worked example.

UAF uses the standard HEC 4.0 grading scale with credit-hour weighting. Your CGPA is the weighted average of quality points across every course you have taken.

The formula

CGPA = sum(GP x Cr) / sum(Cr). Multiply each course's grade points by its credit hours, sum those quality points, and divide by the total credit hours.

Grade to GPA mapping

A = 4.00, A- = 3.67, B+ = 3.33, B = 3.00, B- = 2.67, C+ = 2.33, C = 2.00, C- = 1.67, D = 1.00, F = 0.00.

Worked example

Semester 1: 18 credits at GPA 3.4 gives 61.2 quality points. Semester 2: 17 credits at 3.6 gives 61.2. CGPA = 122.4 / 35 = 3.50.

Common mistakes

Do not average GPAs directly — that ignores credit weighting. Do not skip fail (F) courses; they still count 0 quality points against total credits.
