How this works
The more credits already on your transcript, the harder it is to move your cumulative GPA in a single term — a strong term GPA nudges the average less when it's averaged against a large pile of prior credits. If the required term GPA is above 4.0, the target isn't reachable this term alone.
Formula
required term GPA = (target × (prior + future credits) − current GPA × prior credits) ÷ future credits
Example
Current 3.20 over 60 credits, target 3.40 over 15 more credits → needed term GPA = (3.40 × 75 − 3.20 × 60) ÷ 15 = 4.20 (unreachable on a 4.0 scale)
