CGPA Calculator Pakistan — HEC 4.0 Scale
Calculate your CGPA on the HEC 4.0 scale used by Pakistani universities. Enter each semester's GPA and credit hours to get your overall CGPA and approximate percentage.
How this works
Pakistan (HEC) uses the 4.0 scale. Add each semester's GPA and credits above; we credit-weight them to produce your cumulative GPA and an approximate percentage using the local conversion rule.
Formula
CGPA = Σ(GPA × Credits) ÷ Σ(Credits). Percentage ≈ CGPA × 25.
Example
Semesters: (3.6×18) + (3.8×16) = 125.6. Total credits = 34. CGPA = 125.6 ÷ 34 ≈ 3.69. Percentage ≈ 92.3%.
Notes
- HEC (Higher Education Commission) recommends a uniform 4.0 scale for degree-awarding institutions.
- Some universities (UAF, UOG, NUST, COMSATS, FAST, UMT) use variations — see their dedicated pages when available.
- Grades D and above are typically passing; F carries 0 grade points.
Terminology
- SGPA
- Semester GPA — the same idea as GPA, using the semester-based terminology common in India / AICTE universities.
- CGPA
- Cumulative GPA — a credit-weighted average of every semester you've completed.
- GPA
- Grade Point Average for a single term, computed from letter grades and credit hours.
Grading policies differ by university, department, and academic year. Use your institution's official calculator or transcript office for anything that counts (transfer credit, scholarships, honors).
